GCF Facilitates First Pan-African Roadmap for Low-Carbon Development in Africa

Twenty-five government and civil society shapers of REDD+ and low emissions development from eight African countries and four subnational jurisdictions drafted a strategic roadmap for the development of REDD+ and low-carbon economies in Africa at the GCF’s first pan-African meeting, held in Addis Ababa from June 10-12, 2014. Held in partnership with Horn of Africa Regional Environmental Center & Network, the meeting focused on harnessing the success the GCF has experienced facilitating regional collaboration in Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico and Peru, to advance jurisdictional REDD+ and low-emissions development in key tropic forest areas in West, Central, East and Sub Saharan Africa. The GCF Training Program (Norad*) and GCF member, Cross River State funded the process.
